Utah Teens Who Escaped from Boarding School Apprehended
Where the Boys were Found
One was arrested in a stolen vehicle, Iron County Sheriff's dispatchers said Tuesday evening. The other was arrested in Enoch.
An endangered person advisory was issued for the boys, because one is a diabetic who had gone more than 36 hours without medication.
About the Boys who Ran Away
Alan Cherkin and Travis Cornwell, both 17, ran away from the Sorenson's Ranch School near Koosharem early Monday morning. While on the run, Sevier County Sheriff's deputies said the boys managed to steal a cell phone from a pickup parked near Koosharem Reservoir.
"He was able to make a phone call to a friend," Sevier County Sheriff's detective Nathan Curtis said. "He said, 'We're heading to Vegas. Don't call the cops."'
The phone was found early Tuesday morning on a farmer's driveway in Parowan. The teens were arrested late Tuesday afternoon. Both had a history of stealing cars and leading police on a chase, deputies said.
