Residential treatment facilities house clients at or near their facility in order to help maximize treatment effectiveness. Military schools are designed to take a tough love approach to correcting poor teen behavior. An emphasis is usually placed on structure and discipline. This type of residential treatment may be a good option for troubled teens struggling with issues such as defiance and entitlement. In many cases this type of residential treatment is most successful when teens already have a good understanding of the cause and effect type relationships. It may not be a good option for teens who do not understand the relationship between actions and consequences.

This type of residential treatment may be a good option for teens who struggle with a wide variety or a combination of several issues.
